The Ntare Lions' League will this Sunday, on December 15th, premier the first 'Seniors Mini League' within the greater old boys' league targeting old boys that are 35 years and over.
"Following suggestions raised by senior members of the league, the League Committee shall introduce a "Senior's League" within the league starting this Sunday, 15th December, 2019 at King's Park Arena, Bweyogerere." Mwine Mark Guma, the League Publicist said in a statement.
According to Guma, the mini-league shall be exclusive to members over the age of 35 years and is being introduced for them to play in between themselves, get game time and encourage more of their senior members/ families to take part more in the league activities.
He says the old boys have identified an age gap within the league that favours the younger, more energetic flock of the old boys leaving out the older folk who consist the greatest section of Ntare old boys. Consequently, the Seniors League shall be to involve the older folk more in the league activities.
"We therefore invite all senior OBs above 35 years to participate in the Seniors' League starting this Sunday 15th Dec, 2019 as the NLLXI breaks off for Christmas."
The mini league will start as a one day event that will be played alongside the regular Ntare League season at Bweyogerere based Kings' Park Arena on Sunday, just as they break into the festive season. The plan is to transform it into a fully fledged league next year by having it run for a regular season alongside the already existing league.
Interested old boys are encouraged to get in touch with Steven Kataama of Bonshé FC, Richard Mungereza of Abazibu or Bruno Bongyeirere of Ebicuncu for more details about the initiative.
