The curtain is coming down on the 22nd of February as the grand finale of the 11th showpiece of the Ntare Lions League finally comes to an end. All teams will meet down on a Saturday morning at Kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere for the final show.
With three games to go, Abashweki seem to have finally secured their place in the finals but the battle for the the second team to join them continues to intensify each game week. Last season’s runners up Ebicuncu lead the pack consisting of Machando, Kafubs & Abazibu as their insatiable quest for title glory continues to haunt them.
Mukama Emma of SC Kalele is set to win his first golden boot, but is currently tied with Abashweki’s talisman and star striker Aaron Ndahura who has topped the charts for over half of the season. But whether that will happen remains to be seen.
This season has seen the re-birth of new defensive tactics manned by Abashweki’s Kakyomya teaming up with Aine to control the team’s defense line however Ebicuncu have conceded the least number of goals. On the flip side, fans favourite and one time champions Mugudu FC have so far earned two points and conceded a whooping tally of 58 goals and the best is yet to come.
Tipped to be among the best; title holders Nshera and Kalele have struggled to play to their expectations and all they can do settle for is to wait for next season if at all they are to win a silverware.
Same place same time, it’s always Funday Sunday. The season still has three match days to look up before the grand finale . This article can’t come to an end without a notable mention of Machando’s win over Nshera for the first time since the league was established. Nshera vs Machando is a big derby in the league as the two years followed each other closely while still at Ntare School. Machando are the class of 2009 while Nshera are the class of 2010. Not just words can explain the Merchants' happiness over that win.
