The team was named after one of Ntare School’s longest serving French teachers Mr. Birindwarugaba Eligius (Now Deputy Headmaster). He customarily signed off his examination and test scripts ‘Bon chance’ which translates to good luck. As is expected in such environments the phrase gradually evolved to Bonshasha which then was popularly shortened to Bonshe; mainly due to mother tongue interference and general challenges encountered by students with regards to French as a subject. So, long story short, that’s how our team patron got christened. And we are proud to be named after this eccentric gentleman, we are FC Bonshe!
FC bonshe was formed in 2015 at the start of the second edition of the NLL in which we finished as runners up losing the final to Mugudu FC. However we were champions in the 3rd and 6th editions. As per the league roaster, FC Bonshe is the 3rd oldest team, behind Ebicuncu and Abazibu respectively. The initial team was comprised of years 1995, 1996 and 1997 but lately we have kept an open door policy for younger Ntare OBs who are willing to join us.
Under the leadership of Darius Muwanguzi as captain and Paul Ndyaguma as coach, the team earned a reputation as one of the toughest opponents in the league. FC Bonshe went nine games unbeaten en route to the final and lifted the trophy setting a league record of ten wins in a row. The team is also one of the most entertaining and attacking teams having scored a record 36 goals in the 3rd edition averaging 3 goals per match.
The team’s home color is green whereas the away strip is blue. Our crest is mustachioed lion paying homage to our patron’s preferred style of facial grooming.
